Heart attacks affect millions of people every year. Celebrities and famous people are not immune to heart attacks and plenty have endured them. Some have been able to recover and continue with their careers. Others have not been so lucky and have died as a result of a heart attack. Famous people may be able to afford the best medical care, but they are a victim to temptations like the rest of us. Smoking and a poor diet led to early deaths for many of these celebrities.

Billy Mays recently passed away after suffering a heart attack. He was the pitchman for OxiClean. He had undiagnosed heart disease, and died suddenly in his sleep.

John Candy a funny man who starred in several movies died from a heart attack when he was just 44 years old. He died in his sleep in Mexico while filming a movie. He struggled with obesity his entire life, but the last 10 years of his life, he really put on the weight.

Jerry Garcia a musician who was part of the group, Grateful Dead died from a heart attack at 53 years old. Jerry was a long time drug user and died in a rehabilitation facility while he was sleeping. He battled sleep apnea and was overweight at the time of his death.

Billy Powell, the lead singer of 70s rock group Lynard Skynard died from a heart attack. He is famous for the band’s song, Sweet Home Alabama and other legendary hits from that decade.

Alex Trebek, the host of the popular TV game show, Jeopardy suffered a minor heart attack at the age of 67, in 2007. He underwent tests and was released from the hospital after two days.

Mother Theresa a humanitarian known for her work with people suffering from AIDS, died from a massive heart attack at the age of 87. She had survived two previous heart attacks. She was fitted with a pacemaker after her 2nd heart attack.
