Gary Null – A Quack?
Question:
I listen to Gary Null on the radio four times a week. He has a lot of information, but some of his statements seem extreme. "I have never been sick a day in my life." Does anyone have any information on his views and teachings? Don Kelly
Response:
Gary is an interesting individual. He claims to have a PhD, lets himself be called "Dr. Null", yet often mispronounces *basic* human anatomical terms, chemistry terms, biology terms, etc. Saw him in a debate on the Morton Downey Jr. show a number of years ago. He was debating a particularly obnoxious MD/lawyer who challenged his creds. Gary admitted having a degree from Thomas A. Edison College, which is primarily a mail-order institution. An accredited college, two hours per night, etc.mind you, but they’re not awarding PhDs in science. I’v heard Gary’s strange personal claims: only sleeps 2 hrs per night, never been sick, etc. I’ve also heard him, on the air, sounding as if he had at least a nasty head cold or allergy. Gary has a line of supplements which he shamelessly promotes on a leased-time NYC commercial station. If you’re only familiar his Pacifica/NPR stuff, get ready for a real eye-opener. Having expresed my doubts, I will say this. Gary has had on some *very* interesting and valuable guests. In addition, he is often in front of the nutrition/health curve on certain issues. For example, I remember him talking, probably 10 years ago, about the value of vitamin E in heart disease prevention. IMHO, Gary is a complicated over-reacher who may or may not be something of a con man, but who ends up doing a lot of good.
