I tried to get into a clinical trial via Dr. Gitlin some time back (didn’t make it).  I was REALLY impressed with them though–they were very efficient and incredibly nice.  And if you have a sick child, Eggleston is awesome.

Well he is going to Emory they will be able to tell him something more concrete.  I know he will find out soon enough.  Instead of waiting I just have to ask.  Just because I don’t know what I am talking about never stopped me from saying it anyway.  :) <elmoemer…@webtv.net> wrote in message

Hello kilowatt. I do have a problem with fluid build up(edema), and have had it for over two years, but only recently, as a result of TX it has improved considerably. A Dr. , who is an infectious disease specialist explained to me that the fluid is a result of a damaged liver. I have not had a liver biopsy, I wish I could have one, but I’m on coumadin,(blood thinner), for atrial fibrillation,(heart disease) and it would be too risky to chance the bleeding. Last February I nearly bled to death from burst varicose veins, and have no wish to experience that again. Incidentally, I have never heard of Emory. What and where is it? Has your friend had a liver biopsy? As I understand it, that is the best test for determining extent of liver damage. I hope your friend will be ok. I really don’t know if my friend has had a biopsy or not but I am sure he will get one when he gets to Emory. A transjugular biopsy is another option for people that have a higher risk for bleeding.  Would that be an option for you? "Red Dwarf" <sbordonej…@hawaii.rr.com> wrote in message

That’s a tough question to answer.  The specialist should be able to give a more educated answer to that one for your friend after he/she examines him.  Maybe it’s his kidneys.   Elmo http://community.webtv.net/elmoemerson/DocElmosHepFile

If you were treated at Emory there is a good chance we have crossed paths. I had my transplant there in May of 2002 I still go at least once monthly on Thursdays.

I have a friend that has been to a local doctor about his HepC  and, on the doctors advice, has an appointment to see a doctor at Emory.  The local doctor says his liver is inflamed.  The thing that puzzles me is that my friend says he is having problems with fluid. I don’t clam to know anything about HepC or liver damage, but I thought that fluid was one of the symptoms of severe liver damage. My guess is that my friend’s liver has more damage than just being inflamed. True/ false? — Kilow…@charter.net  Add "private" to the subject line.

I’m inclined to agree with you, but it is possible the fluid buildup is due to something else.  Has he had a biopsy? Emory’s great, can’t say enough good things about the way I was treated there.  He’s in good hands.
