Question:
I found that CoEnzyme Q10, about 60 – 75 mg/day made a big difference with memory loss. I started taking it for something else and all of a sudden I started remembering telephone numbers. (Something I haven’t done for 14 years when I sustained a head injury.) Even now, when the bottle is empty and I drop off for a few days I begin to get foggy. I know it helped but whether that was because I had had an injury or if it works like this for everybody I don’t know. - Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – nikkie, i recently had an echo done with very similar outcome – minor mitral valve leak. doctors saying same thing as yours – can’t say for sure if it was redux, no big problem, etc, BUT. the thing is this is not the first echocardiogram i’ve had done. i had one done 11/2 yrs ago for a different reason that showed no leak. this was before redux. now i will have to premedicate for dental work. i realize that’s not a big deal, but maybe i should not have taken redux. i honestly don’t know what i would decide to do about taking it if it was still on the market. ????? should i contact one of the ambulance chasers that are trolling for people like me? "if they give you lined paper, write the other way." -i don’t remember who said it, but it wasn’t me originally. Actually, it’s too soon to conclude that this is "no big problem". The long term consequense of heart valve fibrosis is unknown. BTW, American Home Products had a number of reports of heart valve damage caused by dexfen in Belgium in 1994. The ambulance chasers will have a field day. L

hi everyone, I’m new to this group and I’d like to hear somemore success stories from past and present atkins dieters’. I was on Redux until the "pulling off the shelf business" I wasn’t too successful on that. My friend was on a diet and she lost 45 lbs. I had asked her about this diet because every week the girls would go out for chicken wings and she would have herself some as well, but she was still losing weight? How could this be? So I bought the book the Atkins diet. I thought no way, and I tried it what the heck!!!!! It certainly wouldn’t hurt. So the first week 6 lbs. The second week 5 lbs. And so on. It’s been a month and a half and I have lost 18 lbs and losing inches like crazy. This really works. No craving, it’s great!!!!!! I started out at 190 lbs at 5′2′ now I’m 172 lbs. And going on strong. By the summer I WILL be wearing shorts and feel comfortable about it!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Went and saw my Dr. for the first time since being off the meds. and she wanted me to have a Echo. before she will allow me to try the Phen alone. I went in the the Echo. last Monday and got the results (kinda) today. The nurse called and said it looked good BUT the Dr. wants me to see the Cardiologist for a consult that they saw something BUT IT IS NOT serious. I asked if I could go ahead and start on the Phen and was told no not until I see the cardiologist and see what he says. I am feeling kind of down right now, I don’t feel like I have any control over the cravings or over my life now that the decision as to whether or not I can take phen is up to the Cardiologist. From everything that I have read Phen. isn’t responsible for any of the heart problems (I don’t even know what kind of heart problem I have) so I don’t understand why I can’t take it if "everything looks good". My Dr. is also doing research on whether or not I can take Meridia when it becomes available. I hope whatever the problem is wont stop me from taking Meridia!!!!!!! I am feeling kind of low and just wanted to share what was on my mind. I feel like my options for help in lossing weight are becoming fewer & fewer. I shouldn’t let myself get down because I don’t know what the problem is and I don’t even no if this problem aces me out of any of the diet meds or not. When I heard the news (or lack of news) I was wondering if it was worth losing the weight or not if I just have to go thru’ the pain of gaining it back. I am doing everything I can not to gain it back but like discussed in other posts in this ng the eat less exercise more concept means nothing to this body. Thanks for listening Nikkie
I went last week for the results of my Echo. and I do have a SLIGHT leakage around my heart valve. But it isn’t anything to worry about but something to keep an eye on. The cardiologist isn’t concerned at all and feels like the diet meds had NOTHING to do with it. Most likely since it is so slight I might have been born with it. Anyway, the Cardiologist said I can go ahead and take Phentermine and if all looks as good as it appears with the Meridia that I may take that when it is available. He is writing a letter to my Primary Care Dr. to tell her as far as he is concerned that I am a good canidate for the diet meds. I filled my script for Phentermine last week. This is the first time I ever had Phen alone and I don’t feel any different than normal. I haven’t lost anything BUT I haven’t gained either!! I am just hoping to maintain thru the Holidays. So far so good
Merry Christmas all! Nikkie

I am going in for Echo this morning. I’ll post my experience/results. My doctor said the only thing he recommends for weight loss is human growth hormone, costly and only available in Mexico. Ever heard of it?
Response:
I think that if you decide that you want to take the risk of taking phen alone, then you should find a doctor who is willing to work with you on that. My experience was completley different. My doctor actually recommended I go on phen alone, no fuss, no muss. He said phen has been around since 1959 and phen alone has never been associated with heart disease or any other really nasty side effects. In some people, it does stop working after a certain amount of time, tho. Claudia Los Angeles, CA

I was on Redux 8 1/2 months and Phen/Fen for 3 1/2 months. I was very successful with the diet meds.I lost 53 lbs.
