Question:

I tried Meridia but didn’t get the same results as with the Phenterimine.  The only drawback on Phen. is that it wires you and if you have trouble sleeping forget it unless you can also get some sleeping pills.  I haven’t tried the herbal regimen.

Hi Barb, This is just my opinion. Each person must decide for him/herself. All drugs have potential side effects, whether they are prescription, over the counter, or herbal. Some side effects are worse than others. Meridia, for example, is a controlled substance and is potentially addictive. I am assuming it is either an amphetimine or an amphetimine derivative. I don’t know how dangerous phenterimine is alone, or if was the fen/phen combo that had a potential for causing pulmonary hypertension. BUT, for me, I would not risk that sort of potentially life-threatening illness for weight loss. My personal opinion, and again, JMHO, is that the ECA stack is probably the safest for most people. Aspirin is beneficial anyway. Caffeine is something most people ingest on a regular basis. Ephedrine is *only* dangerous if taken way above and beyone the recommended dose or if you have a health problem that it would potentiate.  Of course, I feel you should discuss any medication with your doctor before taking it if you have any special health problems (esp hypertension, heart disease, or thyroid disease in regards to the ECA stack). I hope I am not bringing up a bad subject but I have been reading here for about a week and haven’t heard anyone talk about prescription drugs for weight loss. Is herbal stuff better?? How does everyone feel about phentermine or meridia(sp?) as a way to loss weight?? I know one person on phentermine who has lost alot of weight and another who is using meridia and it is very expensive and she is losing about 3lbs a month. Now she isn’t really dieting just eating less. She still has high fat high calorie things but not as much.

There really is no point in taking any of the availabe weight loss drugs since caffeine/ephedrine formulas such as Diet Fuel are cheaper and probably more effective as well.  Adipokinetix is in my opinion the best of these over-the -counter formulas.  Don’t waste your money on Meridia. I am new tothis newgroup and wonderered why there was nothing about that either.  I am not against using drugs if it helps and you change the way you eat and exercise.  I have used drugs and had different successes.

They might be posting to alt.support.diet-rx  That’s the newsgroup that discusses weight loss medications. — Great things happen when one dares to begin

Drugs are drugs. Doesn’t matter if they were made in a botanical plant, or a pharmacutical plant. How does everyone feel about phentermine or meridia(sp?) as a way to loss weight

From reports to the newsgroups, phen seems to work a lot better than Meridia, and costs about 1/20th as much. Do the math. J

Hi Barbara,    In the past I have used all sorts of drugs to use weight. I had lost as much as 60 pounds. But as soon as I stopped taking them, the weight came back… times 2! Kristy 337/300.5/???
