Question:
Some how I don’t think all these people took coffee enema’s and colonics cause it made them feel bad or made them unhealthy.
No, I’m sure they think the colonics are good — real good — real REAL good. Why is it groing in popularity again?
Because some people have a fixation on that other end of the food tube. Read all the health magazines.
No thanks. Too many articles on sticking beverages up the pitoot. Does a MD education make one a subject matter expert.
No. But it can. Compared to some washed-up realtor former car salesman looking to make some extra bucks on the side peddling magnets or stuff to stick up where the sun don’t shine, which by the way, makes them instant experts in health and medicine. Did you know that magnets help cerebral palsy? How much does a doctor learn about nutrition?
Actually, quite a bit. They learn more about sending bills and the stock market.
Hey, that’s one of the toughest courses around. I think all you critics should submit to the nozzle and see if it clears your mind a little.
….hmmm….well, maybe, but can you add some coffee to that? Get out of your ivory towers.
I ain’t in no ivory tower — I’m sittin’ in my room readin’ an article by some lady who says its okay to flush one’s ass with coffee, and I’m thinking, "That ain’t, like, normal". I do believe that the woman who you are criticising spoke of her sucess with the treatments.
I’m not sure which woman that was now. Can you dispute that.
I don’t dispute it, but I do cringe at it and hold my nose as I slowly and non-chalantly back out of the room… She said it helped her husband.
I should trust the word of someone who advocates refluxing coffee in one’s rectum until it gurgles? Would you recommend some radical surgery instead.
Sure — surgery is just GREAT for ridding the body of all those TOXINS. The man is alive and kicking and happy. What is your hang up?
I don’t have one — these guys can flush coffee up their asses as much as they want. It’s a free country. I just don’t think its responsible to recommend such a technique to other people who actually have a real problem when those making the recommendations don’t really know for certain what the technique actually does, or what harmful effects it may have. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Lynn and Bill

It causes anxiety, increases cholesterol, and induces heart arrhythmias–all factors that increase a persons risk for heart disease. Yea if you drink more coffee you wont get that "crash". LOL

Never heard of this myself, but I know if you intake it thru your mouth, it’s bound to keep you awake all day…lol…this is what everyone does at work anyways. Sara I am very interested in the coffee enema.
This procedure is one of those things that, while based on very valid principles, lends itself to ridicule by those who haven’t bothered to become informed. That reflects badly on their diligence in seeking information, but not on the validity of the procedure. For an explanation of why the coffee enema is useful in certain detoxifi- cation situations, see Chapter 5 of the following book: Ross Pelton, R.Ph., Ph.D., and Lee Overholser, Ph.D., "Alternatives in Cancer Therapy", NY: Fireside/Simon&Schuster, 1994. ISBN 0-671-79623-2. The "bottom line" … no pun intended :^) … is that caffeine introduced rectally has quite a different effect than when taken orally. Namely, it "..is absorbed through the rectal mucosa and is transported directly to the liver, where it causes a dilation of the bile ducts. This increases the elimination of toxins from the liver. [11]" Reference 11 is to Hildebrand, G.,"How The Gerson Therapy Heals", _Healing Newsletter_ 6(3,4):37 (1990). Pelton & Overholser Ch. 5 goes on to say: "Recent research shows that certain chemicals in coffee called palmitates stimulate an important liver enzyme called glutathione-S-transferase, which is capable of removing a variety of free radicals from the bloodstream. A coffee enema increases the glutathione-S-transferase enzyme activity in the liver from 600 percent to 700 percent above normal. During the time that the coffee enema is being held in, all the blood in the body passes thfourgh the liver at least five times, since all the blood in the body goes through the liver every three minutes. "Other chemicals in coffee, including caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline, cause blood vessels and bile ducts to dilate, increasing the elimination of toxic bile. Additionally, some of the water absorbed through the intestinal wall goes directly to the liver, diluting the bile and increasing bile flow. "A choleretic is any substance that increases bile flow. The coffee enema is the only pharmaceutically effective choleretic noted in the medical literature that can be safely used many times daily without toxic effects." I have read a comment elsewhere that the coffee enema is particularly useful when fasting is being used to detoxify the body, as the flow through the intestines is then greatly reduced and toxic bile products would otherwise accumulate in the intestine, causing the toxins to be reabsorbed rather than being eliminated. If one reads the alternative cancer therapy literature extensively, one finds that for methods which really do cause tumor regression, there is often a buildup of toxic products from the destruction of tumor cells. Detoxification, or increased efficiency of bile elimination, becomes important under these conditions. I believe that is why the Gerson therapy and others find the coffee enema so useful. I must admit that it sounded pretty silly to me, too, until I read the above explanation of the rationale behind … so to speak… it. Maybe when mainstream medicine gets to the point that it is really having to deal with lots of dead cancer cells, it will find this detox procedure important, too. -John Sangster Wellesley Hills, MA

That’s good. Always insult anyone who might disagree with you. It can’t be that their points are valid. They’re obviously Evil and should be abused. I think all you critics should submit to the nozzle and see if it clears your mind a little.

Why put it up your anus when you can drink it? What’s the point? Your bowl is self cleaning as nature intended. Nature didn’t intend for you to force things up your backside
Coffee is pretty toxic on the body no matter what end you stick it in. I see no positive reasons for keeping a coffee habit.

I see no reason to give coffee a bad reputation it doesn’t deserve, when there are plenty of other things (saturated fat, oxidized cholesterol, calories, cigarette smoke, etc, etc) which really are bad for you in quantities not too different than many an average Joe consumes. Why are you so threatened by me knocking an un-natural substance in a newsgroup that advocates alternative holistic health care? Like it or not, caffeine addiction is drug addiction. You suffer withdrawls if you go off of it cold turkey. Why this should be considered trivial? Or maybe you have stock in Starbucks? Coffee is highly processed. Are processed "foods"ever any good to stick in your body? If you know of any, please list them, because I don’t think there are any. Well Roxaynne, it doesn’t look as though anyone seriously tried to answer your question. The coffee enema is gaining in popularity since some pretty public figures (Janet Jackson for example) are using it. In my former colonic clinic we found that form of enema to be quite popular among the Hollywood set. The recipe is not fixed, and most users simply mix as much coffee as available in the pot after your morning cups with water to a total volume of a quart or two, and take that slowly, retaining for perhaps 10-15 minutes. I usually mix to a ratio of half and half with warm tap water, though this is only one aproach. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether it really works.

Because it’s usually not that serious. You can taper off caffeine in a few days. And the withdrawal is usually a headache. Not exactly the DTs, now is it? Or maybe you have stock in Starbucks? Attaboy! When all else fails, infer a money motive. Coffee is highly processed. Are processed "foods"ever any good to stick in your body? Highly processed? Go ahead and explain that one. Processed foods need not be bad. But it sounds as though your definition of "processed" is "no longer breathing." You’ll have to be more specific.
